The Last of Us franchise co-creator Neil Druckmann revealed that Naughty Dog had at one time thought of creating a short or possibly a spin-off for Ellie’s mother.
The announcement is timed to coincide with the HBO series’ ninth and final episode’s release. In this episode, Ashley Johnson, who previously portrayed Ellie in the games, plays the above-described heroine.
Druckmann did not state the reason for the cancellation of either project, and he said that at this time, he does not wish to go into further detail. He simply said that a different company, not Naughty Dog, would have been in charge of developing the spin-off.
The game creator said, “I’ve been convinced numerous times already: tales that I deem unsuccessful and that I hope will not be accepted, in the end, nonetheless, come to light.
In addition to many video game projects, Druckmann is presently working on the second season of the television series based on The Last of Us Part II.
