ROLE-PLAYING GAME WITH UNIQUE STORYTELLING STYLES
For every move there is a reaction, as in previous Telltale Games games; each episode is jam-packed with scenarios highlighting Bruce Wayne and also his secret identity. Bruce Wayne’s personality is frequently impacted by the decisions made while acting as Batman, and vice versa. Throughout the entire series, there is a clear conflict between the two identities, with Wayne’s closest friends and family members (such his devoted butler and lifelong family friend, Alfred) frequently eager to call into question his morals.
It draws inspiration from the film noir aesthetic found in The Wolf Among Us. Telltale has created a gritty and violent plot for this series that is a wonderful fit when applied to the Batman universe. Darker elements, such as corruption and cruelty, are present in Gotham City to support this and amplify the unrest. These major topics are addressed on many levels by Bruce Wayne and his alter ego over the whole series.
The major way to interact with other characters. The choice of the adequate answer results in various consequences. It is obvious, that an independent character will respond for every answer chosen by us, fitting to the course of the conversation, but there are situations, where the individual moments are more important than others. Aside from the adequate attitude towards the protagonist, some answers can be remembered by the adversaries and they can refer to them in the further parts of the episode or next episodes.
Additionally, in some cases, we are left with a major choice, which can influence the events in the further parts of the game. In such cases, most of the time we have more time to decide, but in those cases it is better to stop the game, and think about the eventual consequences.
The game’s animation appears to be of the usual caliber; it was created using a non-photorealistic style influenced by comic book artists; nonetheless, the current Telltale game engine is undoubtedly getting stale. While the game’s docked mode on the phone version is not the most beautiful, it is crisply presented in handheld mode, however it struggles to run as smoothly during more demanding situations. Fortunately, these visual and technical flaws do not distract from the overall enjoyment of the game; it is still playable.
